Sound Collecting workshop

11-10/8/2012

2656-021

Every day, our ears are drawn to the hustle of footsteps, vehicles, traffic signals,
public announcements, hawkers calls, drones of air conditioners, birds calls, leafs in the wind…
Sounds of countless frequencies and textures compound the sonic environment of our city.
Vanishing in time, sounds are evanescent;
but they also register the trajectories of the city’s beings.

Are you an active listener?
Are you ready to share your listening experience with others?
Can we borrow your ears?

Become a Sound Collector of The Library by soundpocket. Learn about the art of recording from professional sound designers and artists. Share your ideas of listening and make them part of the permanent collection of the public library of sounds.

How to become a Sound Collector of The Library?
If you love exploring, and you listen well, we would like to meet you!
NO professional background in working with sound is required.
All Sound Collectors will attend 3 sessions of Sound Collecting Workshop for free. The workshops cover such topics as the culture of listening in contemporary society, theories and practices of listening with microphones and headphones, and the art of recording by artists. Upon completion of the workshop, Sound Collectors will become members of The Library community and start collecting sounds and stories together.

——————–
